Head of Textiles (for one year, from September)

A well-qualified, creative and enthusiastic Head of Textiles is required to lead this successful department on a fixed-term, one-year contract from September 2024. A permanent post may be available from September 2025.

All pupils at OLA study Textiles in Years 7 and 8, with the subject becoming optional in Year 9. Pupils are taught in small groups throughout the school which, particularly at GCSE and A-level, allows for more individual support and regular intervention.

Textiles is based within the Creative Arts Faculty, along with Art, Design Technology, Food and Academic Music. The department enjoys excellent working relationships with the other departments within the Faculty and benefits from the sharing of equipment, space and expertise. Candidates who are able to teach another subject should make this clear in their application.

For full details of the role please refer to the Application Pack, which can be downloaded here.

Casual Exam Invigilators

We always welcome enquiries from people who have an interest in joining our team of casual exam invigilators. Examinations can be stressful experiences for young people and we are looking for invigilators who can support our students through both their internal and external exams. Candidates should be sensitive to the varied needs of pupils and have a calm, organised approach. Full training will be provided.

If you are interested in exploring this post further please contact Mrs Julie Braley at headspa@ola.org.uk, or by telephone on 01235 524658, for an informal discussion, or submit a completed non-teaching staff application form which can be downloaded here.

Minibus Drivers

As OLA pupils travel from a wide catchment area, we are always interested in hearing from people who are interested in minibus driving. To be considered you must possess a valid driving licence which includes category D1 permission, and be happy to work split shifts before and after the school day.  To register your interest please contact Mrs Julie Braley, headspa@ola.org.uk, tel: 01235 524658.

What people say about us

“I’ve never felt more at ease as a new member of staff in a school. OLA is rich with kind staff and welcoming students which creates the family atmosphere necessary to realise the school’s ethos. As a teacher of 10+ years it is refreshing to find pastoral care so firmly at the centre of culture and practice, the benefits of which are evident the moment you step through the door.“
