A-Level Results

Almost half of all students achieved at least one A-Level at grade A or above, with 80% securing their first-choice of university this year.

Straight A*/A students: Head of School Eleanor and fellow prefect Sophie.  All A-Level Art students achieved an A*.

Students continue to perform at a very high level in Creative Arts. Similarly, students performed exceptionally well in Design Technology, and also in Drama, Economics and Geography.

Above the national average, 80% of OLA students have secured their first choice of university at a range of top Russell Group universities, including Cardiff, Leeds and York. The diversity of our students is reflected in their subject choices which include Biochemistry, Business, Cyber Security, Ecology, Engineering, Law and Sport.

OLA 6th leavers destinations

Our Upper Sixth leavers regularly go on to a wide range of universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and many leading Russell group institutions. Among them we have medics, vets, scientists and artists, the range of subjects here reflecting the breadth of interests encouraged at OLA.

GCSE Results

August 2023 saw another excellent GCSE performance and we are celebrating another strong year of GCSE results, continuing a long tradition of examination success.  An outstanding 95% of results are graded 9-4, with 48% graded 9-7 and 46% achieved at least one grade 9.

Pupils achieved well in core subjects with 47% of pupils achieving a 9-8 grade in English Language and 48% of pupils achieving a 9-7 grade in Mathematics.

60% of pupils achieved straight 9-5 grades and one pupil, Stephen W, achieved an exceptional set of results with 11 grade 9s. Lana J also achieved well with 6 grade 8s and 3 grade 9s. Special congratulations must be given to Stephen, Elias, Tobi and Jemma who achieved grade 9 in Further Maths. Further Maths is offered as an extra GCSE for the most able mathematicians and is studied off timetable.
